The Externals- Chapter Five

While I thought the guy would choke me to death, he let go of my neck and resolved to inflicting pain on me with his gang members till Appa comes around. They took turns in whipping me with a horse whip and each time, the level of pain increased. I didn't know how much longer I'll be able to endure it, and if Appa was going to come save me since they claimed to have sent him videos of what happened. "Is your beloved Appa not coming to save you?"The guy that captured me said and blew cigarette smoke on my face while he rested a bit. "We can't keep on waiting here forever!"His boss pulled the trigger of his short gun and directed it to my forehead. Right then, I realized how precious life was. Not only to me but everyone else. Even if we're experiencing all kinds of unpleasant situations, we still have a strong desire to endure, so we'll able to enjoy it when things get better. "Is this really going to be the end of me? Is there absolute

The Externals-Chapter Four

Thursda y For a reasonable amount of time, I occupied one of the desks in the front row of my classroom, thinking about the similarity between Khadijat's case and mine. Even if my dad was really never available to fill the void mom left, I knew he loved me and my siblings very much. Still, I couldn't help but wonder what was going to happen if his other wife gave him a male child. I wondered if he was going to stop sending me to school, because people do say, "women eventually end up in the kitchen no matter the educational height they attain in life". "Where exactly did you travel to?" My English Teacher waved five of his fingers over my eyes. "Sorry, sir" I comported myself and opened my school bag to bring out my notebook. "You can take that back. I'm not here to teach you", He grinned."Just give me the press club minute book". "Oh..."I started feeling uneasy. From being an ordinary member of the press clu

The Externals-Chapter Three

Wednesday I derived fun in giving my juniors moral support as they moved about our local field swiftly with their rubber boots, but nothing on earth could make me play football even if I wished I could sometimes. The SS2 students were playing against the JSS2 students since their major competitors (my male classmates) weren't around, but the game wasn't as fun as it used to be when they're present. Rhetorically speaking, the grass of GMC suffers when these elephants wrestle. Sometimes, their field struggles made it seem as if an earthquake was going to take place. Asides the male football team, we also had the female football team even though they weren't as strong as their male counterpart because the number of female students in football in GMC was low. The best female footballer in my class and the entire school was Halima Folorunsho. We weren't so close but I admired her talent. Even though she had legs that were shorter than mine, she could easily score the g

The Externals- Chapter Two

Soon enough, we both realized that the man standing in front of us only looked like our old proprietor. I was more relieved than Omma was. Even though I cared about her, I was more concerned about not having my name in the school's black list before graduation . It was one of the requirements of being the best graduating student which had been my aim since my first year. "How was school today?" Omma asked when we were a few miles away from my home. "Fine", I sighed."Why weren't you around?" "Can't you see?" She raised an eyebrow. "Oh my God!" I couldn't refrain myself from laughing at her new slim figure."I'm so sorry. How did this happen?" "I got sick when I went to my Big Aunty's place for the holiday and had to be admitted to the hospital for weeks...I'm just recuperating sef", She explained. "Pele, dear", I gave her an apologetic look."You'll be fine".

THE EXTERNALS - CHAPTER One

One of the reasons I considered myself a lucky student of Grace Model College, was due to the fact that my home was close to the school's gate. So even on the first day of the first term of my final year, I could remain curled up in my bed, and ignore my phone's alarm at fifteen minutes past seven. N o adult was expected to step in and wake my lazy self up because it was one of those days when I stayed alone in my grandma's house. As much as I wanted to be with my nuclear family members, none deemed me fit to live with them them them. So, I had to stay with my dearly beloved Aunt Tolani who comes home once in a Blue Moon. Even though her yelling was enough to pull down the great Effiel tower, I still longed for her to come home on days I exhaust the 'never enough allowances' my dad sends. When she's around, I eat meals with plenty of crabs, pawns, and other kinds of seafood she enjoyed selling. Even though getting out of bed was hard , I was the happiest person
